I am 48 and starting school and training for my CNA in two weeks. I have no intention of stopping there. I can't help growing old but darn it if I am going to grow up!:D

Good luck Speed Freak. I hope you enjoy it. I am 42 and I am just wrapping up my CNA class this week. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I will be starting nursing school in the fall of 09. I am taking all my pre-req's now. They tell us the formula the use to determine who gets in, and I just about max out every area so I am sure I will get in. I was hesitant to start this, but it is something I have wanted to do for many years now, and I finally decided to quit making excuses. I haven't had any problems in any class. I have consistantly scored high grades in all my classes. At clinicals the other students were trying to get partnered up with me. I don't foresee my age giving me any problems in nursing school either. I have started trying to lose some weight, and I go to the track a couple of times a week. I started walking, but have gotten to the point I am jogging a bit more now. I am trying to get in better shape so that all that walking, bending, lifting, etc... won't be a problem. I have been sitting on my butt at work for a lot of years. I figure I am going to get older, I can either do it as a nurse, or do it wishing I had become one.

Well after a few family related set backs, I will be graduating from Nursing school in December '09. I will be 51 years old when I graduate and will be pursuing a career as a Flight Nurse. I have found that my age has actually helped me achieve what it is I want to do.

As I tell the kids in my school (most of them call me Papa) that I will challenge anyone of them to keep up with me.

Any thing can be done, even Nursing School, no matter what your age, all you need is "Want To" Age is just a number.
