After I have my RN . .

After I have my RN, can I go back to school and specialize in something. like prenatal? Or do I have to say what I want to specialize in when I start? Or both? Help please!

You just get your RN, and your specialization will come from your job. It is not like a doctor where they spend extra time in school for specialization.

This. Depending on the speciality you might have some extra classes that you will need to take, but those are generally provided by the hospital. For example, if you're doing OB/L&D, they might have an inservice on fetal monitoring. For critical care, generally they have an inservice on hemodynamic monitoring which is so crucial to the field, and maybe an EKG class...along with a manditory ACLS/PALS certification.
