Advice on revocation

Published

I have been in the nurse recovery program for 15 months now. I have to call the drug line every day to see if I am to be tested that day. This past month I forgot to call twice. I am now being told that my licence are going to be revoked because the days that I forgot to call I was on the list to be tested those two days. I was never informed that I had missed the first time and I tested clean in between the two missed calls. So even though there is no question about me being clean or not I am going to lose everything because I forgot to make two phone calls. I don't know what to do. Can anyone give me any advice. PLEASE HELP.

I find it hard to believe that coicidentally those two days happened to be THE days to be tested. Who is telling you this, the Board? Im sorry you are going thru this. I dont know if I would be able to remember to call everyday or not, unless I made the call first thing upon waking up...before doing ANYTHING else. Please keep us updated. I dont have any advice because Ive never been in your situation, but hopefully others on here may be able to help you. Good luck.

Hi Brittany,I can sympathize but you have to work with the agency that is monitoring you, call every single day,do what you have to. Work with them, ask what you need to do and you'll have to do it.

Since you've been in the program 15 months I really don't see how you could've forgotten to call twice in one month, call your sponsor, talk to your support group.

Good luck!

All you can do now is to file a grievance with the board to try to get your license back. Has the board contacted you directly yet? Unless they have, you don't know this for sure.

If you are at risk to lose your license permanently, I would hire a nurse attorney familiar with the nurse practice act in your state. This isn't something where you have the luxury of fixing it on your own. If you can't afford an attorney I strongly suggest you borrow some from a friend or family member. If you say the wrong thing or sign an agreement you don't fully understand your license could be lost forever. At this point I don't think you can afford NOT to hire an attorney.

The American Association of Nurse Attorneys can help you find someone in your area with the expertise to help you.
