Hi,

I currently work as a nursing health care assistant / support worker. I currently work in the NHS. I work in the opeating theatres. I was wondering what the same equiverlant would be in New South Wales Australia.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

If you are looking for immigration purposes I don't think HCA qualifies

It may be that they do not recognise your training and have to do something once out there, Good luck on the move

Hi

Thanks, i think i am going to need good luck. Thanks anyway.

hello!

i believe a health care assistant in the UK is also classed as auxiliary nurse? this is probably equivalent to an assistant (AIN) or domiciliary (personal carer)nurse in Oz. the pay rates for AIN is higher than for personal carers in Oz. and the AIN rate is about the same as a healthcare assistant in UK. except in Oz, there is lower costs of living. i don't think the theatres in Oz use AIN or personal carers. but the theatres in Oz do have wardees or assistants that help move patients and equipment around. usually it's men doing it coz it's rather physical and not much caring involved.

perhaps you will be employed in the aged care/ rehab/ residential care settings. probably not the theatres. or you could be an AIN in hospitals anyway. they use AINs on normal med-surg wards.

but it's true that as a health care assistant, you would not qualify for immigration purposes. you'll actually need to be registered (RN) for immigration. unless you come over as a student wanting to study RN in one of the universities... :monkeydance:
