Advice on path to take

Published

I have found an LPN program that will be able to take me immediately in the fall. Is it worth it to go there and get my LPN first and work as an LPN while I'm on a wait list for an LPN->RN program, or should i just finish my RN prereqs and get on a wait list for an RN program? I'm worried about what to do/where to work while I'm waiting for RN school, but the LPN program is 5 hours away from my significant other who is tied into a job for the indefinite future. What do you all think?

i think it depends on how much you need money and what you current situation is. i would just do your pre-req's and get ready for stuff, but i have also seen ppl work as LPN and take classes as they can. so that way they can work, and get some experience as they go.

i would weigh out the pro's and con's of both and decide from there.

GL! sorry i was so vague, but it so totally depends on your current situation and what you can handle financially.

If I could do it over again, I would have gone right for the BSN. You can always work as an extern or a NA in a hospital if you need to start working. Besides, you have to take the same prerequisites for an ADN or BSN so you might as well go for the degree that gives you the most flexibility when looking for a job.

Good luck no matter what you decide works best for you.
