Hey everyone,
I have been a nurse since January 2016 and have been working on an ortho/trauma/surgical floor. I have always wanted to work in the operating room, but do not have any experience there. Is there any advice that y'all can give me to help me get to where I wany to be?!
Thanks to all!

So you're looking to join the OR team? What you'll want to look for is a facility (and it can be the one where you currently work) that offers a very thorough orientation program- 6-9 months. Because this orientation program is so long, it is often only offered a few times a year, so you may have better luck looking around the times that schools are graduating nursing classes. Make sure when you apply and interview that you also take the time to shadow- this will give you an opportunity to see how the facility and the team works. Pay attention to what the nurse is doing- so many people think they want to work in the OR, but they are so focused on watching the surgery that they are completely unprepared for the reality.
