I will be graduating in May with my BSN. My problem is I can't decide what area I want to be in. I've been applying to all kinds of different positions and, now that I'm getting calls for interviews, I feel like I need to start narrowing things down. Any suggestions or advice on how to choose the area of nursing that would be the best fit? Nothing just reaches out and grabs me like some of the other students in my class. Any advice would be great!

Look over your school work--where did you excel? What part of it held your interest?
I started my Maternity rotation with great reluctance, I just KNEW I wasn't going into it and just wanted to get it over with...
go figure, I'm starting as a PostPartum nurse in June :) I can't wait!
So don't rule anything out either. maybe go on the interviews, ask what they have to offer, and see if it helps.

When in doubt, I would say choose the unit that will give you the broadest experience. Then, at the end of 6 months to a year when you have some solid experience under your belt, you might have a better idea. Another idea, can you extern in some unit? Or...shadow a nurse?
