ADN or Not?

Hello,

Which would be the best route/recommended to take to obtain a BSN in nursing?

I am currently taking pre-reqs and will finish by Summer 2016 but don't know whether I should obtain an ADN and then transfer to get BSN or transfer and obtain that BSN, without ADN.

I know at the end of all of it, I will become a RN but even though i get my ADN, I'm not stopping until I get that bachelors.

(Ps: confused on what to do and need some advice)

I would say it depends on your needs, available colleges, and where you live.

Needs: Can you go the longer time for the BSN without working as a nurse? Is it cheaper in your area to do an ADN and then a BSN?

Available colleges: How soon do you want to start? Some schools have admissions 3 times a year, some only 2, some only 1. Can you get into an accelerated program? How close are available nursing schools to you? Would an ADN school be more/less convenient than a BSN?

Location: This is a big deciding factor. I have friends that went to Florida and Tennessee with their ADNs and were able to get hospital jobs right away. In Maryland, ADNs that were not working as techs before graduation have to wait much longer (one girl I know was 8 months, 4 months seemed average.

I went with an ADN because it was close to my house, a relatively easy program to get into that I could start quickly, and it's still going to be cheaper or the same cost to have done the ADN + BSN then to have gone straight to BSN.
