ADL CODING

I have a few questions that need clarified re: ADL coding in Section G.

1. When looking back over 7 days, do you code by "shifts" or "days"? Do you code by the three shifts individually or by the whole day?

2. If you have 6 days of limited assist & 1 day of total assist, would you code extensive??

:banghead:

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!

You need to spend some time reading the RAI manual. The nature of your questions would imply that you are very new and have not "done your homework". While no question is a dumb question.. you still need to put a little effort into it yourself. Section G is a very difficult section and you will really want to read this closely and refer back to it often. Both of your questions will be answered there.

1. When looking back over 7 days, you will want to take into account all 21 shifts that occurred within that time frame (assuming you have a days, evenings and night shift).

2. In your second question you use the terms such and such "days"... again, assuming you mean instances of occurances, IE: 6 times they needed limited assist and one time they needed total assist, this is coded as limited assist.

Read your book, then come back if you are stuck.. and we all get stuck sometimes.
