Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if the AHA has an updated ACLS review book with CD rom. I wanted to know because I have checked on several websites like amazon.com and they have an outdated book from 2006. Please if someone can guide me in the right direction; I would appreciate it. I have been a nurse for almost 8 months working on a Short Stay Unit and I want to obtain ACLS certification. Thanks ;)

none of the updated aha manuals are available as of yet although the aha instructor network provides the following tentative release dates:

march - april 2011

family & friends® cpr anytime® (adult/child light & brown skin)

infant cpr anytime® (light & brown skin)

basic life support for healthcare providers (bls hcp)

heartsaver® first aid cpr aed

heartsaver® first aid

heartsaver® cpr aed

may - june 2011

family & friends® cpr

advanced cardiovascular life support (acls)

july - september 2011

pediatric advanced life support (pals)

october - december 2011

pediatric emergency assessment recognition and stabilization (pears)

the 2010 american heart association guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care science were published in october and are available on line.

chare Thanks..... Wow ACLS June - July 2011. I was wondering because I was going to purchase the book and go over it but I wasn't sure to get the current book from the AHA since its so old. Thanks for your help.

You can purchase the 2011 ACLS provider book from http://www.channing-bete.com ($33.50 plus tax and shipping). Great course!

The new books are published, and effective June 1,2011 all classes will follow the new guidlines and will require the new books! I took my class today and had the old book (due to the confusion we were allowed to attempt the class), but was lucky enough to have found this website prior to my class: http://acls-algorighms.com. EXCELLENT site that has all the new guidelines, multiple practice megacodes, and practice tests. For a fee of $7.95 you can get a 2 week membership that gave me enough "cram-time" to study all the new guidlines! I passed....thought I'd pass on the useful info!

I wouldn't worry too much about the 2011 guidelines as there are only 2 or 3 changes from the 2008 guideline. The ACLS instructor will most likely have both versions of the book and point out the difference between the two.

My ACLS/PALS instructor also had the 2011 mini-ACLS book for sale and even gave away the few 2008 mini books he had available.
