Accreditation!

I am making myself ill because I applied to two schools. One in my home town that would be a DREAM COME TRUE to be accepted to, and the other is an hour and a half drive away from home and not accredited. Since dreams don't always come true, I have a feeling the other choice will be my only option. Should it even be an option or do I risk waiting another year to apply to schools again if I don't get in this year to the school in my home town??? I have children, which is why the travel adds more stress to this for me. *this makes me so ill. :-(

What do you mean, specifically, when you say "not accredited"? There are multiple types of accreditation "out there."

Not NLNAC accredited.

If they are not accredited, will you even be able to sit for the NCLEX? And is it a LPN or RN program. You will have to realize that if you ever want a higher degree, then the credits will not transfer and you will basically be starting from scratch. I wouldn't waste my money on credits that won't transfer. Something to think about.

I would be very cautious of non accredited schools. You need to check that you will be able to sit for NCLEX in your state.....is it an APPROVED program by the BON?

Attending a non accredited school is a risk....it will limit your future if you intend to receive advanced education AND if you move to another state your schooling may not allow you to apply for Licensure by endorsement.

I would be able to sit for NCLEX. It is an ASN program and I can do an online ACCREDITED BSN in the state of GA. Confusing right??? It's not accredited because it's a new program to the school, not because they don't meet standards. My concern is if it will affect me 5-10-15 yrs from now if I move out of state. It's with chattahoochee tech if you want to look it up better.
