Accepted! GHSU 2012

Published

Hello! This past Saturday I received my acceptance letter to Georgia Health Sciences University (Augusta Campus) woohoo! Although I am filled with excitement, I have so many questions and concerns which is why I decided to create this thread. I was hoping I could get some insight from alumni and current students about the nursing program (how are you liking it?), living (where is the best place to live?), and Augusta in general (how is it? how are the people?). Also, I'm hoping to meet and speak to other students who have been accepted into the program as well!

Congratulations to everyone on your acceptances into nursing school and I hope I can get some advice!

Thank you! :nurse:

Congratulations, Ani123! I have moved this entire thread to the Georgia Nursing Programs Forum, for better exposure :)

Which program?

Thank you VickyRN!

Marie99, I will be a part of the BSN program!

How exciting! I applied for the CNL program. I turned my application in back in Sept. I am hoping for the Athens campus. I hope I will get an acceptance letter soon too :)

That's great! I considered the CNL program for a while but after speaking to a few people I decided it wasn't for me. Mainly because it is an accelerated program, so I was afraid that the curriculum would become to overwhelming for me...I still wonder if I made the right decision though. I wish you the best of luck though and hope it works out for you! *fingers crossed*

Thanks a lot. My fingers, toes, eyes and everything else that I can cross are crossed. Good luck in your program. Maybe I'll see you in the hospital ;)

very happy for you.. but which program acceptance letter did you get?

Marie99: ugh I know the feeling, hopefully the wait will be over soon! I initially applied to the Athens campus as well but was accepted to the main campus instead.

Sosola: I've been accepted to the BSN program.

Hi My name is Kayla and I was also accepted to the BSN program at Aug. I met with a counselor there this past week to find out some more info so here are some of the facts they told me:

There are 40 spots at Augusta and 40 spots in Athens this year.

Once we pay our deposit we are able to sign up for on campus housing or they also have recommendations and connections for off campus housing.

Around April there will be an open house that all committed students will be invited to.

I was very impressed by the facility as far as convenience to clinical locations. The Health Sciences building where we will have class was built in 2006, and it is VERY nice. The staff also bent over backwards to allow me to see the campus and meet with them on such short notice. They are very proud of the program, so I feel that it will be a great 2 years.

Where have you done your pre reqs at? And what other schools are you considering?

Hi Kayla! Congratulations on your acceptance! It's so great to hear how accommodating the staff were. They have been so kind and respectful through this whole process for me as well and that has definitely been a selling point for me. I am currently finishing up my prereqs at GPC and am not considering any other schools. I've heard such great things about GHSU, especially their clinical program, so I have turned in my deposit! I've never been to Augusta so I am a bit nervous about that, but I'm planning on going there sometime in the next few weeks to check it out and hopefully meet with a counselor. I also need to figure out housing and whether or not I want to live on or off campus. I'm glad they're holding an open house in April, I think it will be a great way to meet others and see the school. Thank for the info!

Are you still waiting to hear back from other schools or are you set on GHSU?
