Accepted finally!

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hi all!

I just wanted to share the exciting news that I was accepted into the bridge program for Mendocino college! It starts in January. If there are any nurses out there familiar with this college or how the bridge program works I am all ears. Wish me luck!

I have been trying to get into a nursing program for over 10 years and settled with LVN to get to work sooner. Had to retake some pre-reqs due to recency  and was able to apply and wait for several more years but now I have been accepted!

I can’t wait to get started. January is just around the corner. Good luck to you all!

Congratulations! my story is similar to yours. my original goal was to become an RN but ended up as LPN since 2011. Finally my time has come. I'm waiting to see if I'm accepted to a college here in WA state.

Congratulations to you both… I’m not sure why they make it so challenging for LPNs to go back when we’re the most qualified. I have similar stories to y’all.. hopefully my time will be soon… Y’all got this… Praying for y’all success in the program.

Thank you so much! And I totally agree. There seems to be so many requirements as if your new to the profession.

Your time is coming sooner than you think. Keep the Faith. Wishing you the best!

Hi how is this program going? I applied for the 2022-2023 cohort but was selected as an alternate. I am considering applying again and am wondering if you have any tips or advice??

Hey there (this will be a long reply. Heads up),

I will say the instructors are very sweet and want you to succeed. That being said I would not expect any special favors because of any experience you have. The first semester you are in is definitely your easiest, however not without its challenges. You have 3 ATIs you have to pass and there is one class you have to show up for (I think ours was on a Wednesday?). Skills are on the same day as well. They are pretty strict about the assessment check off. That was the only one I had to really practice a bunch for and had to retake.

Now let's talk about this semester. LOL I thought that due to my experience I would have this school in the bag. Absolutely wrong. When you join the rest of your classmates you aren't any different than them and I mean that from a scholastic perspective. I am studying so much more this semester than I ever did in LVN school. One advantage will be your ability to break down a question since you've already taken an NCLEX. The exams are very difficult and there is a lot of prayers going on currently for me at the moment TBH. No way in hell I could work during this and I think there is only one maybe two students who are working while in this semester.

Sadly my class is fairly clicky (reminds me of highschool dram, ?) and because of that (I also blame covid as well) there is little to zero study group and that is very unfortunate. I tried to start one up right away but that really fell on deaf ears so I am kind of on my own with the support family/ friends and some random strangers on discord/reddit/ Youtube. I'd say this aspect is the biggest downside for me of the class. I am immensely grateful for my 5 LVNs I am apart of in the class. We get ourselves through each exam or quiz and yours might very well be your lifeline as well.

I hope your entrance happens soon. I was on a waitlist the first time ( I think like number 5). Then I think the registrar who has since retired didn't like me and held my name out of the lottery due to a technicality. I called a complained and thank fully got in the next year. What I'm saying is have faith, keep applying and you'll get in.

Feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions and good luck, because we all need it. LOL

Hey there. Tried to DM and it isn't letting me at the moment. Maybe because I'm too new to the community? IDK I did try though. Do you have a separate email maybe we could communicate through? I'm happy to answer whatever questions you may have.

yes! you can email me at [email protected]
