I was just accepted to Davis Applied Technology College for a Spring 2018 start. I thought I would share my application experience since most of the other threads on this topic are outdated. I also applied to Weber and was not accepted; 51/60 of their accepted applicants already had a degree.

Cumulative GPA: 3.64

Prerequisite GPA: 3.92

6 months of medical work experience

3 stellar recommendations from:

1) My boss of 4 years

2) An anatomy lab instructor who I TA'd for for 10 months on

top of taking her cadaver prosection class.

3) My dance instructor of one year who lives in another state

CNA Certified

Business owner of Doula and Birth Photography business

About a month after the application deadline I received an email that I was in the top 45 applicants out of 118. They emailed me the next week to schedule my interview and I snatched up the first available time. The interview was with 3 of the faculty, including the director of the program. There were 4 questions:

1) What led you to nursing as a career?

2) How do you plan to manage the heavy course load in your schedule?

-I said that I have an amazing support system, a flexible job, and I don't struggle

studying for hours at a time.

3)What are your future goals in nursing?

-I want to become a midwife. I plan to attend the Midwifery program at

the University of Utah

4) Tell us about a time your were faced with a conflict and how you resolved it.

-I talked about my management experience at my current job.

Then I went across the hall and had to type an essay response with the following instructions:

Write a two paragraph response answering the following questions:

1) Do you agree with the author? Why or Why not?

2) Do you think the essay was written in a respectful manner? Why or why not?

Include your name at the top of the paper and use proper citations.

I just got a letter congratulating me on my acceptance, and I'm so excited! Jokes on you Weber; I'm going to get the same degree you rejected me for except faster and less expensive.

Did you already have pathophysiology completed?

This is super helpful. Thank you!
