  1. Hey there, Everything you have looks good. Volunteer experience helps. I volunteered at Primary Children's in the emergency department. They always have a lot of volunteer positions at Primary Children's. I'm not sure about the CNA license... but MAKE SURE YOU FINISH YOUR MATH. I was unable to continue with the RN program, because I didn't have Weber's math requirement done. I graduated from the DATC and passed the LPN-NCLEX, but you're very limited with work as an LPN in Utah. Get math over with, specifically math 1040, because almost all nursing programs require math 1040. Also, I'd apply to SLCC's nursing program as well. If you plan to work full time, or even part time while you're in the DATC's nursing program, expect to be extremely busy. I worked one 12 hour shift a week during the first semester, and that was challenging. I worked two 12 hour shifts the second semester, and that was worse. The DATC is good for someone who has zero hospital experience, and for someone who has a sugar daddy or a sugar momma so they don't have to work. The main thing is to get accepted ANYWHERE, and get going with school! GOOD LUCK!
  2. The book I ordered from Amazon for the PAX test was called, "Review Guide For RN Pre-Entrance Exam 3rd Edition." I also watched some videos on YouTube about the PAX test. Review Guide For RN Pre-Entrance Exam: 978
  3. I GOT IN!!! After waiting a week and still not receiving anything in the mail from the DATC, I emailed them to let them know I hadn't heard anything... About five minutes after I sent the email, I got a call from the DATC. They told me over the phone that I had been accepted into their program. Best news ever. About a week later, I received the original letter from the DATC. It had a "return to sender" postage sticker on the letter, so it must have gotten lost or something. I'm glad I called the DATC instead of waiting two weeks... I would have lost my mind!
  4. UGH... I'm so sorry! I'm jealous that you at least got SOMETHING in the mail from the DATC. It's the unknown that has been KILLING me. I started going through my trash to see if I accidentally threw it away, but I've been OCD about my mail the past few days so I wasn't surprised when I didn't find anything. Anyway, I hope you're one of the alternates that gets accepted, and I'll let you know when I receive any news from the DATC, whether it's good or bad. THANK YOU for always getting back to me so quickly throughout this whole process!
  5. Have you received a letter from the DATC yet? I got an email April 16 (Monday) saying that they were sending out the letters the next day (Tuesday). It's now Saturday, and I think I've checked my mailbox almost ten times in the last 2-3 days, and still nothing... haha I don't think I've been this impatient since I was a little kid in the back of the car, "Are we there yet?"
  6. Hey there JerBear's honey Congrats on getting into the top 45 again. This my second time applying to the DATC. The first time I applied I didn't have Patho or Pscyh 1010 (I took Human Growth & Development years ago). I made it into the top 45 this time, and I hope so badly that WE get in this time around. I feel extrememly confident with my credentials, grades, etc... However, I was curious how your experience was with the interview and essay after the interview?
  7. I know of people that have been accepted within the last year that not only haven't taken pathophysiology, but they didn't even have six months of CNA or healthcare experience... If you haven't taken patho yet, I would still apply, that way even if you don't get in you'll get more points applying a second consecutive time. I took patho at SLCC with the main instructor, Tanya, and she was great. Let me know what you end up doing. Also, I took the PAX test yesterday and scored 145/160. I'd give yourself at least a month to prepare for it. I bought a book on Amazon that reviews material for the PAX test, and it was very helpful. The material in the book is more difficult than the actual test, so you'll be more than prepared when it comes to taking the real test. Yeah it might be frustrating having to check off all of these things just to be able to apply to programs, but you're not alone, and we might as well get it over with, because who knows what they'll add in the next couples of years... "Finish these prerequisites, volunteer, get work experience, oh and cure cancer... and maybe we'll consider you."
  8. This is super helpful. Thank you!
  9. I applied for the first time for the Spring 2018 class; however, I didn't get in. I'm planning on applying again for the July 2018 class. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that it is extremely competitive... - GPA is a 3.7 - 6+ years experience as a CNA (assisted living, skilled nursing, orthopedic trauma, newborn ICU) - 100+ volunteer hours at a children's hospital - Great references - All prerequisites are complete. Currently taking pathophysiology, so I'll have all prerequisite and support courses completed by the time I apply a second time. Starting in 2018 they will be requiring a PAX test. Hopefully with pathophysiology completed, as well as a good PAX score, I'll FINALLY start a nursing program. Lastly, when the 10 month program is complete, how much longer does it take to get your BSN through Weber State? Thank you in advance for any feedback!
