Acceptance Letter

Published

To those who have gone through the application experience: how long did it take to receive the official acceptance/offer letter in the mail from Randolph after the recruiter sent you the "unofficial" version. Just wondering, I've received the letter from my recruiter 11 days ago (AFRS header, signed by recruiter), but was under the impression that I was also supposed to receive the official one in the mail??? thanks for feedback

I got my acceptance letter (via email) on Jan 5 and I don't think I ever got one in the mail, nor do I care about seeing a second copy of it.

If there is anything that nursing has made me appreciate it's sparing TREES!

Thanks AdammRN... I was just wondering how "official" the e-mail letter was.

I think it's pretty official: I printed the one I got via email and handed it to my recruiter the next time he came to my house and I am currently "Oath out," meaning the next thing they want me to do is commission/swear in. Last thing I did was send my recruiter a photocopy of my BLS cert.

Do you expect to commission soon? I guess it depends on many factors outside our control as to when we get the green light to commission.

Yea, my recruiter is working on setting that up. Once everything was sent in, he told me I was ready to commission (today). I am probably swearing in next week...

Adam's right - that IS your official letter. It's the one time in your career the military will do something expeditiously. Rest of the time it's snail mail and paper everything.

I am very happy to say that I got my acceptence letter also via e-mail. It still hard to belive I got in. My date for COT is January. It is still a long way, but at least I know I am going. I really hope its not changing for a later date. I graduated in December and still doesn't have a job. I volunteer in the hospital so I can use some of the skills. Anybody else going in January?

Unsolicited advice - BUY SOME UNDERARMOUR for PT. You're allowed to wear it by AF reg under your PT gear as long as it's black or dark blue. I was there in October/November and it DOES get cold in Alabama - in fact, this past February Montgomery had something like seven inches of snow. I made my DH mail me my Underarmour before the movers came and I was SOOOO glad I did.

Underarmour needed in May?

Someone's going to COT in January! :)

But you CAN wear an Underarmour tank under your PT shirt - and believe me, it helps. The one thing outside of uniforms that I splurged on was good sports bras and a couple of Underarmour tank tops. I'd forgotten it was going to get COLD while I was down there, so I had my DH send me my winter Underarmour (I ice skate and live in that stuff at the rink).

Carolinapooh,

Thank you so much for all of your advice. I really enjoy reading your post, you are very helpful to all of us.
