Hello, everybody. From NJ and I have been checking out the forum and needed to ask myself. I hate to be that new guy who asks but I would appreciate any information from you folks.
I am looking into accelerated BSN programs and they can be two years in length if necessary. Finance is somewhat of an issue.
Just looking at a few, they vary in their prerequisites and duration. I have no problem with a two year program where I could take my classes. I'm just really anxious to get back into school.
There are about 196 in a search I looked up and it will take some time to check them all. so is anybody aware of inexpensive programs or programs that are lighter on the prereq requirement off hand.
If only one of my questions could be answered: is this considered a very complete database?

Hi. I don't know about that website. But, I usually give out this one: http://www.bestnursingdegree.com/programs/accelerated-bsn/#new_jersey
Let me know if I could be of any more assistance.

Here is a list of 233 Accelerated BSN programs from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing:

Allnursingschools is a proprietary site, and they charge schools to be listed there. You will see more private and for-profit schools listed there (which have recruitment budgets).
In general, you will find state schools less expensive than private schools.

If you're interested in that program here is the info: http://sn.umdnj.edu/academics/accelbsn/index.htmIf you have at least a 3.0 from your previous degree, you're pretty much good to be accepted into the program. It's 15-months long and the only program that requires the least amount of prerequisites.Let me know if I could be of any more assistance.

That was quick, thanks! I just found that site too.
As for the program, I do have over a 3.0 from my previous degree. However, I'm 27 and my prerequisites would appear to be expired in five years. In any case, I only have Physiology course without a lab component and no sociology or statistics. I definitely can take them. I'm just hoping to find how out how soon I can get the ball rolling.
It's probably going to be difficult to find a program that doesn't have both Anatomy & Physiology as a requirement which is why I was hoping to find maybe a two year program where I had all the requirements that allowed you to take them such as this, the "CARE program at LSU": http://nursing.lsuhsc.edu/AcademicPrograms/Undergraduate/CARE/Curriculum.html
Actually, now that I look at it, that program seems quite affordable for out of state. Am I missing something? Perhaps I was confusing with LSU in general?: http://www.lsuhsc.edu/no/tuition/nursing.php

Thanks, I was looking for an updated version of this! Is there one for 2011?
The AACN conducts a survey of all 700+ Schools of Nursing every October. The 2011 list should be out in December.

What about tuition? I see a lot of fees; fees alone don't make up tuition. If you're interested in this school, you should speak to the director to get the best information. I guess moving is an option for you.
I'm going from a technology background, which means I took no science courses when working on my first bachelors, so I had to take A&P1 and 2, Micro, Chem, Psych, and Sociology. I had taken Stats 9 years ago, so I was good. I knocked out those 6 classes in 2 semesters at my local CC. The other ABSNS programs in Jersey required a bit more.
Wish you luck in your search.

Maybe that's the "something" I'm missing.
