Accelerated BSN program Advice

I am thrilled to announce I was recently accepted into the University of MS Medical Center's Accelerated BSN program, beginning in January of 2016. What an exciting adventure this will be! The program lasts one full calendar year, ending in December of 2016.

I'm reaching out to my fellow students in both traditional and accelerated programs for any advice you may can offer a new nursing student. Some questions:

What should I expect/prepare for heading in?

What do you wish you had known going into school that you didn't?

What are some study tips?

When should I begin preparing for my NCLEX exam?

Best shoes to wear for clinicals?

General advice for a new nursing student?

Thanks in advance, I can hardly wait to begin!

Looking at website for U. of Mississippi this is for those with a bachelor in another discipline.

But your username says you're an RN? Yet you say you are new nursing student. You will need to change your username per terms of service you can not use a title (RN) you have not earned.

NCLEX-suggest waiting to start studying towards end of program.

Study tips-Get into study group 4-6 of similar interests. Take notes but read before class. Nursing is not just memorization . You will have to apply knowledge & skills to situations.

Shoes- My favorites were Birkenstocks pricey but you can replace soles. But any comfortable sneaker allowed by your school will be fine.

Stethoscope-for beginners, Sprague-rapport type is fine as it can be turned into pediatric version or bell & diaphragm also interchangeable.

Good luck!
