Hi!
I''ve recently graduated from a fairly good university, but with a low GPA...exactly 2.86 due to family problems in my 2nd and 3rd years of college. I still need to complete 4-5 prereqs. I got a 4.0 on the first one and am fairly confident I can finish the rest with similar results. I'm applying to ABSN programs for Fall 2015 and while I'm in NYC, I'm looking mostly at schools in the tristate area and in the DC/Arlington area. I've been reading lots of mixed reviews in terms of competitiveness and acceptance rates to ABSN programs. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do to optimize the chances I get into a school? I have a lot of healthcare experience--solid amount of volunteer hours and hospital/medical office work.
Thanks so much!

Most ABSN programs require a 3.0 GPA from your first degree. Maybe the school will make a waiver for you, but with most candidates well above the minimum 3.0 GPA cut-off I am not sure what they would do. You need to talk to the schools and ask if you could still apply.
