About applying to Tri-C...

I dont know about Tri-C, but I am in the accelerated BSN program at Kent. I dont qualify for financial aid either, but I do get federal loans by filling out the FAFSA. I figure in one year the degree will pay for itself. I think the application deadline is coming up for Kent's accelerated Nights and Weekends Cohort, maybe check it out?

I would personally wait it out for Lakeland. Tri-C has a waiting list I believe and I don't think you will be able to go into any program this fall. While waiting. I would take a class or 2 to take the load off while in the program at Lakeland if I was you. I totally get your rush for wanting to get into the program right away. I am actually starting Lakeland this P2 semester to get my math and stats done so I can go into the LPN to RN program fall 17". I was really hoping for spring 17 but I cant take all the classes at once due to work schedule so I'm just going to wait it out. But I wish you the best whatever option you pick.

You aren't getting the answers you need because you aren't asking the right people. It's not your fault; it's just that there are only certain people in Counseling who understand the admission process. May I make a suggestion? Call the Nursing Division directly or come to their office at Metro campus and ask your questions in person. I would give you specific names of people to touch base with, but Allnurses doesn't allow me to do that in postings. If you are able to send personal messages, PM me and I can tell you who to contact.

Tri-C does not have a waiting list because we have rolling admissions and fill spots as students become eligible for admission. As of a couple of days ago, the last time I checked, there were still spots for Fall 2016.

Hi Sandy! I really wish I could afford an ABSN program. It looks like Kent has a really good one! At my point in life/career the idea of taking on extra student loans just isn't a good strategy for me.

I'm at Lorain County and I love it there. My only problem is that there's so little clarity on whether I'm even on track to apply in May. I went to see an advisor last night and she told me to come back after the semester's over. When I asked whether I'd be applying in May for the Spring class, she didn't know.

Waiting it out is tough too at my age...I'm in my mid-30s and have a BS and a career that I'm stuck in until I can move forward with a program -- most of my non-nursing coursework is already done.

I wish you luck too in with the LPN route you're going!

AssociateDegree - Thank you!! Allnurses doesn't allow me to send messages yet but I will call the nursing dept and/or take a day off of work to find someone in person. I work a full time job during the day. I did send an email to the general nursing program email contact and was referred to someone else who hasn't responded yet.

I'm sure with an onslaught of unprepared and semi-prepared applicants there's just too many of us trying to pre-application manage individually. And I get why there has to be structure - It's just really frustrating feeling like you have no idea how to move forward and make a plan.

I'm currently finishing up my last semester of the Tri-C program. I can say from experience it has been an excellent program. Faculty are great, most of the students work and more work also with kids (I really respect these people, it's tough) but it is do-able & probably the most flexible program out there. I didn't come in with a healthcare background but many students did so it was great to learn from everyone. Several of the people in my clinical group were paramedics, engineers, accounting, nursing assistants, we ended up getting a good mix of backgrounds and a great learning environment. There are many good professors, a few challenging ones, but overall I am very happy I went with Tri-C. Their paperwork can be a bit challenging to work through - some red tape involved but hey they all have rules. Here's a link to the admissions webiste with semesters they're currently placing in. I would try to get them on the phone, that's typically the best way to get a hold of the nursing program. Fall 2016 says open! I would apply soon though, they sometimes have a waiting list and it can fill up. Also don't listen to rumors about accredidation issues, it's been cleared up years ago now...

I called around and emailed around and finally ended up with a couple names of counsellors that work with the nursing program. I have an appointment at the end of the month and hoping I'll be able to apply right after I finish this semester. :)
