Abandoned Application

Hello,

I am a recent graduate and received a DUI in California before I could pass my test. I received a letter from the BRN asking for court documents, arrest reports, etc.

On the bottom of the letter from the BRN:

Should you fail to provide the requested documents within one year from the date of this letter; your application will be considered abandoned.”

I passed the one year mark and now I'm worried that I won't be able to become a nurse at all.

Is there any possible way to reapply for consideration in taking the NCLEX?

Does anyone have any experience or more information about abandoned applications?

Anything helps and thank you for your time!

Best,

prbondoc

Well did you give them the documents? I assume "abandoned" basically means you'd have to reapply and retake the NCLEX. This isn't a question for allnurses; this is a question for your BON. Call them.

thanks cvepo! what is BON?

what is BON?

Board of Nursing

Board of Nursing

Yep. Google California Board of Nursing for their number. They will most likely be able to give you your next steps

Hopefully you've taken the time to gather the documentation they requested. Just because you let a year lapse and abandoned your application doesn't mean that they're not going to want to see the documentation.

**UPDATE**

I received an email from BRN Enforcment:

"If the application is abandoned it means you have to resubmit your application from scratch. Your request will be sent to licensing to let you know how to resubmit your application."

GREAT NEWS! Thanks to CVEPO & DelawareMaleNurse for the help.
