A&P - Help!

Hello All,

I just registered for A&P 1 as one of my prerequisites for accelerated nursing programs. Most schools specifically state they want A&P 1 with lab. The class I registered for only has "Anatomy and Physiology" in the name but there is a lab involved and the course is a total of 4 credits. Does anyone know if this should show up as A&P Lab on my transcript since technically the lecture and lab are at separate times?

Hmm I think u need the separted class of anatomy only and physiology by itself

It won’t show up separate on your transcript, but it’s okay since the course description includes lab. I would keep the syllabus for the course just in case!

(Both my A&P classes, which are approved by BSN programs, do not say lab in title)

Both of my A&P classes were listed as Human Anatomy & Physiology on my transcript with no mention of the lab, but I haven't had any troubles with my applications since it is in the syllabus!

No, there will most likely be only one notation. The four units most likely indicates that lab is included, short of the word (or abbreviation) showing on the transcript title. Separate times has nothing to do with it. You will see separate entries when there are two numbered and titled entries, with two different units. Example: Anatomy/Physiology 101 Lecture 4 units. Anatomy/Physiology 102 Lab 1 unit or similar.

Please read the entire section descriptions in the schedule of classes or catalog and it should be made clear to you. If not, call/see your advisor to have it explained or your can always ask the instructor.

Thanks so much. That's what I figured but wanted to make sure others have had this situation ?

Hi - Thank you. Yes Lab is 100% included as the lab is at different times than the lecture and I can see that when I registered for the course. I just am worried that if the class name does not specifically say "Lab" next to A&P the schools would not accept me - but now I am learning that the 4 credits should make it apparent to the school that lab was included

Yes, you got startled for no reason although it is possible a lecture only class could give four credits.

Take A&P at a website called “portage learning “ (Google it ) it’s through Geneva college and 100% online including the lab. And only like 786$ and that price is including the books. The best part about this is you start and finish when you want. I took that class in 3 weeks and my university accepted it. ??????

You can take any nursing prereq there

Ahh I am currently taking my chem class through Portage and am looking into taking some of the other prerequisites through them! If you dont mind me asking - which school did you get into? I am trying to research universities which accept Portage. Thanks.

So I live in Philadelphia and most if not all the universities here accept portage.
