You can do it!! What I did in that class (I got an A, but almost a B lol) I would read the chapter before class, print the powerpoint, take notes in class, do my own notes, do the chapter review's that my professor would put together and then go from there. Study, study, study! I studied so much that I dreamed about anatomy, I would be pointing out bones in sleep haha! Don't give up, now you know what to expect on tests, so I'm sure you'll do better next time! I know it sounds like such a pain to read the chapter before class, and basically again after, but I think it helps a lot!!

We have our 1st test Monday and I made flashcards for the 1st chapter and ended with 103, I still have 2 more chapters to do this weekend! My dad had quadruple bypass last week so I was spending a lot of time at the hospital and driving to and from an hour each way so I didn't get to study as much as I would've liked so I'm doing that this weekend!! 1. Take your notes and book to the professor; share your note book and ask if you should be taking notes differently.

Ask what you need to change in order to do better.

2. Review the areas that failed you on the exam. Was it terminology? Was it structure to function relationships? Was it processes?

Then hone up on those areas.

3. If your college has a learning center / tutor area, seek out help based on having done #1 and #2.

Does your book have an online edition for questions or practice? That was helpful. I wouldn't highlight the book a lot...just single words or main ideas. Glace the chapter. Read the main ideas then re read the areas you find most valuable then teach someone or teach an invisible person...Lol...so you really make it stick. If you can teach someone, you can remember it. I do flash cards and draw my own pictures to remember.

I love the suggestions above! I too read the chapter prior to class. I also print my professor's lecture slides and take notes as she lectures. I then come home and study the lecture slides more, and then toggle back to the book. Anything I don't understand, I youtube. There are numerous lectures out there and short videos, which are very helpful for explaining a certain concept. If I must, I will take a couple of hours if not more to watch videos. It is usually during this point that many of the concepts start to come together. I then polish it off by reviewing the entire chapter and reading her lecture slides AGAIN. It is a very time consuming process, but this is the only way I get it to stick. This recipe works for me every time so far. Just remember, you have to really layer this on, bit by bit. When you first start it feels like a task too big, but after you invest the time, something starts to click. OH, once it starts to click, talk it out with someone. For example, if you are learning about the integumentary system, explain out loud the different layers of epi-dermis, and what happens at each layer,etc. I often times fake it til I make it, and before long, talking out the process makes everything I've learned stick. Once you find your learning style, you will see results. I had to move past flash card, because they don't work with how I learn. Memorization is obviously VERY important, but being able to really talk the process/function out shows that you get it! Good luck!!
