A good quote

Published

One of today's quotes on my Google home page was this:

"If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubts; but if he will be content to begin with doubts he shall end in certainties."

- Sir Francis Bacon

Seems appropriate for us doubtful fellows that enter into nursing unsure.

I know for me, I start out every semester full of doubt that I can do this, that I want to, and that I'll make it through. But then I do... I can do this, I want to do this, and I make it through, every time. I begin doubtful, and end up feeling certain, until another semester begins.

This being my final semester, I am again full of doubt, but if there's one thing I am certain of, it's that my doubts, while they feel real, scary, and discomforting, are unwarranted. I know that intellectually, but it does not stop me from having them.

I'm worried about unknowns - new professors, new attitudes and powertrips to deal with. I just want to make it through this one like I have all the others. 110 days to go until the last day of this, my last semester.

109 days from now, I'll have no doubt about school. The doubts about the rest of my days as a graduate nurse will begin. I look forward to those doubts, actually.

Great attitude to have!
