Does anyone know what a typical day for a CNM is?
We have some friends who live with the Amish and they were telling us they are in desperate need of a midwife to serve the community. They were even trying to recruit me when they found out I was an RN! Gee whiz...I don't think I'm up for getting up at 3AM to go birth babies, but I just thought I'd check it out, anyway.

lol, if you're not up for getting out of bed at 3am for a baby, move right along to another specialty
I'm not a CNM (yet) but am a CPM. Last Thursday I was awakened at 0311 by another midwife to assist her at a birth (she is normally hospital based so I was her experienced helper). Baby born at 0430 roughly, normal pp routine, left there at 0630. Got home in time to get my kids dressed and off to school at 0730. Back home to get myself dressed, charts and supplies compiled, so I could get off to a home visit for a prenatal visit. While there was paged by a primip with ctx and bloody show. Finished with prenatal and hit the road about noon, was there and set up for birth by 1300. My assistants let me snooze for 45 minutes then got me up for crowning and birth at 1602. I was on the road home at 1900.

Crowning...that sounds painful. Especially at 3AM.
I don't reckon I would be much of a midwife.
