A&p 1 study tips

For my A&P I class, I studied all the images in my textbook and all of us students were encouraged to take pictures with our phones of the models we went over in lab. Also, there was a professor that had an open lab at the end of the week, which helped me out a TON!

First Off Good Luck!!! One thing our teacher had us do that helped me a lot was to buy a skeleton, like the Halloween decoration ones, most of them actually have all the bones and them anatomically correct. I wrote down all the bones and bone markings on foam and then stuck small Velcro circles to them and then to where they were on the skeleton, when ever I was studying I would remove the words and then mix them up in a bowl and stick them back on in the right spots, this helped me a lot because I'm really visual and it prevented me from just memorizing them in order, I hope my explanation makes sense, may sound crazy but it defiantly works!

I just finished a&p 1 taking 2 this semester what I did was started at the head and worked my way down once you have the bones of that area then add the muscles its the next chapter I used the a&p coloring book my teacher gave as reinforcement labled it then covered the answers with sticky notes. Just know that everything builds on what you know so review each day and try to stay ahead if that doeesnt work just search getbodysmart it really help to get the bones down pack the name them on yourself you are your own best atlas

Sometimes its tough to read the content without looking at a reference photo. If you do that, you're able to visualize all the words and really remember them. This helped me A LOT! Once you're familiar with for example, the kidneys and its different layers and parts, its easier to learn the functions and its purpose. Take good notes in class and definitely pay close attention to what the professor emphasizes. If its touch to listen and grasp everything in lectures, see if you're allowed to record it, that way you can refer back to it anytime you want. As long as you stay organized, keep up with readings and really utilize all the resources that you have, it'll be an easy ride! Also, if you're having trouble learning the bones, it helps to study with the artificial bones that I'm sure you guys have available to you in lab. Find out when you have access to them, or if you can check them out and take them home with you. Study groups help as well because you can test each other and find out what areas you need to work on.
