Physiology and Microbiology same semester
I took A&P II, Micro and Chem this past semester. Not fun at all, I spent lot's of time studying but I managed an A in A&P II, an A in Micro and a B in Chem (the teacher was a waste and basically made us learn on our own). I figured it would be a semester like I would see in Nursing school. Just make sure you have the time to devote to studying and you should be fine! :)

How do/did you make yourself stand out?
Nope, no mention of needing recommendation letters either. That's also disappointing as I know several nurses that have worked 15+ years and could write me awesome letters! But, there is no mention of not being able to include a personal letter. I was actually thinking of doing this anyway. It won't backfire on me would it? Including something they didn't ask for? I don't see how it could hurt, it would just show enthusiasm and motivation right? Uggh, can I just skip to the part where I'm in already?!?!:uhoh21:

How do/did you make yourself stand out?
How do you make yourself stand out from the crowd when applying for nursing school when there is: no essay to fill out, no interview, no entrance exam......... I'm applying for an accelerated program that does not require any of the above. I was a high school health teacher for 3 years. I guess I'm a little frustrated that I can't work that in some how in my application. They're not even asking for a resume?!?! I've been waiting for the email from the pre-nursing advisor, but I can't stop thinking about it. I'm guessing all they look at is the prereqs since their website only mentions the prereqs required. But of course that could be wrong because the website also says that students with a previous degree can apply anytime for a traditional BSN, but the application says otherwise. Any suggestions?!?! My prereq GPA is a 3.8 right now and will probably only rise with only non-science courses left to take. *fingers crossed*

Anyone trying for a 2nd degree?
I'll jump in the boat too! I totally goofed off just about my whole first undergrad, managed a 2.8 . That was in 2001, and my prereq GPA now so far is a 3.8. I'm hoping the accelerated BSN programs I'm applying to are not going to look at that first degree, I'm a lot more serious this time around. They don't have anything on the application or website that would indicate that they are going to look at the previous degree. Eek, I'm so freaked out. I just want to get into a school!! Nice to know I'm not alone now.

ABSN vs. BSN
Hi all, I just found out (today) that I cannot apply to both the traditional and accelerated BSN programs at CSU-Pueblo. I thought I saw somewhere on this site that accelerated programs were "easier" to get into, is this true? The program would not start until Summer of '09 and the traditional starts in the Spring of '09. I just don't know what I would do until the program starts considering I will finish my prereqs fall semester. Any thoughts?

Poll: Where are you applying?
I'm applying to: CSU-Pueblo (BSN and ABSN) Pikes Peak Comm. College (ADN) but the waitlist is 2+ years! Pueblo Comm. College (ADN) and I haven't taken the NET for that yet. and my long shot--UCCS (ABSN) but they hate transfer students so I'm not holding my breath. I'm hoping I get into CSU-Pueblo for Spring of '09 Traditional BSN. The back up is the ABSN in the Summer of '09.

Question about BSN vs RN
I have a B.S. in Education and I'm finishing up my prereqs as well. I plan on applying to a traditional BSN program as well as 2 ADN programs. The 2 ADN programs both have waiting lists and one requires the entrance exam. (eek!) If I don't get into those programs (especially the traditional BSN) I will apply to the accelerated program. I'm just kind of concerned about the 20 credit hours in one semester of the accelerated program. Best of luck in your choice!

Fall '07 Grades!! Be Proud!!
Okay so here they are: A&P II-A Microbiology-A Chemistry-B Ick, about the chemistry! My instructor was so horrible! I basically taught myself!

Fall '07 Grades!! Be Proud!!
Well I just took my A&P II final this morning.....it was so hard! I need an 80 to get an A in the course so I'm just praying for the 80 or maybe an 81. Micro-A Chem-B (which I am so mad about--no one got an A in that class and my teacher was HORRIBLE, teaching chemistry to yourself is not easy!) I guess I'm just freaking out about the A&P grade. I already have the B in chem and the rest of my sciences are all A's. I don't think I can afford anymore B's.

How soon can you apply to a nursing program? Do you need to finish ALL pre-reqs?
Of the 3 schools I'm applying to, 2 want all prereqs completed and they're ADN programs. For the BSN I just have to have 50% done. Weird.
