Hi... I am looking to move to washington dc from the uk. It would be for a 3 year posting. I have a diploma in adult nursing. Could anyone give me any advice on nursing in dc and what I would have to do to actually be able to work out there? Many thanks

What sort of visa will you be moving on? When did you train? Have you started the process on meeting state requirements? Hopefully your transcripts have clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult. If not you may have issues as US nurses are general trained unlike the UK who are more specialist trained

You need to check which visa he is getting and I presume you are married.

Your transcripts need to show clinical and theory hours in the areas I mentioned. You do not have to have a degree. Approx hours are 75 hours each (both clinical and theory) in the areas and to go through the process you are looking at approx 4 - 6 months before getting eligibility to sit NCLEX and that is only if you meet requirements

But to qualify for a visa allowing you to live and work in the US with him you will need to be married

Alternative is B2 visa but that will not allow you to work as the B2 visa is in your case is used as a cohabitant
