Minnesota LPN

Was wondering if anyone here is a LPN in the twin cities, if so I'd like your feedback on the job market there.

Salary

Best environment to work in (i.e setting)

Also how is the education for advancement to RN, are there only traditional schooling or any home-study online LPN to RN programs.

Thank you in advance for your help

I haven't looked at the job market for the Cities but I would think that due to the size there would be plenty of job opportunities.. Also, check out Rochester, about an hour and a half from the cities but Mayo is located there and they have plenty of LPN positions available.

"Home-study," a.k.a. distance-based LPN-to-RN programs, are not numerous in number because of the amount of hands-on clinical practicum hours that you must accrue is usually insufficient.

Most state boards of nursing require the LPN-to-RN student to accumulate a predetermined number of hands-on clinical hours. In addition, these clinical hours must run concurrent with the student's theory (a.k.a. classroom) learning experiences.

Excelsior College (www. Excelsior.edu) offers a distance-based LPN-to-ASN degree program that results in eligibility to become an RN. In addition, it is fully accepted by the Minnesota Board of Nursing, although many other states have restrictions on granting licensure to Excelsior graduates.
