Is Nursing School Cramping Your Style?

With all the expenses of nursing school, you have to cut back on some luxuries. Sometimes it is hard to fit everything into your budget. What are some changes you have had to make to make your dollar stretch a little bit further?

I worked in high-end retail since I was 16 and started nursing school (because I was after a more meaningful sort of crazy in my life) at 27. So, that meant: no more gorgeous clothes, shoes, makeup, spa, fat bank account, or time to do what I wanted to do. (Strangely enough, once nursing school started I was more than happy to leave it all behind.) Also, because I don't work so much anymore and I don't relish being a burden to my partner, I've gotten much better at getting actual deals on things and spending my money much more wisely. I do give myself one allowance to make it not hurt so much: coffee. I love Starbucks and I know it's a waste but, for me, there is no substitute. Sadly, that love affair seems to be coming to an end too. So, I basically just use what I am given wisely, stay on top of bills, and put time into maintaining the house a bit to avoid costly problems in the future. Preempt any possible disaster is my go-by. And Pinterest. Pinterest helps save money on a lot of the un-necessities my partner & I like such as liquid hand soap (true rip-off)!
