Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

I too have had a long road and will be applying to North Harris and Montgomery during the next application period. I have not taken my HESI yet but will after the holidays. I am currently at HCC and was accepted into their program but I can not make their last minute orientation dates. Sooo...I am moving on. I have been going at this for two years now and am ready to get it done! Then I'll finish up my BSN with UT. Good Luck to you!

Awesome! I took the HESI in June just on a whim to see how I would do . I did ok for not having studied at all but I can do better! English is my strong point so I will retake it the week after Thanksgiving I think. I graduate in December with my AS ( it took me three years!) and I plan on finishing up my BSN at Texas Tech. Best of luck to you too!

I wont be applying until the next application process for the Spring 2015 program so I still have a long road ahead of me! I'd say its never too early lol! Good luck to both of you!

All the best to you as well!

Happy Thanksgiving week everyone!

How do ya'll think I should rank my schools? I have a 10.5 I know North Harris probably #1 but what about the others?

That would depend on what your needs are I think. If you live closer to N.H. then yes I would put them first, Montgomery second and CyFair last because of distance. CyFair is further than I'm willing to drive from my little ones so that isnt an option for me but may appeal to you. Keep in mind cut off scores for N.H. tends to be lower because they take in more students. I'm going to look the cut off scores from last term and post them along with our scores in a little bit so we can keep track.

I forgot about Tomball. I thought they had a different app period. With your score I would choose N.H., Tomball, Montgomery. I may do the same! N.H. wouldnt be my first choice except that my kids will be going to school very close to that campus. Tomball and Montgomery are about the same distance from my house but Montgomery is closer to my husbands shop so we shall see. I think you can choose three if I'm mot mistaken.

I think you can only choose two but I may be wrong. I will go for North Harris as my first pic and Montgomery as my second. Still need to take my HESI and I have two classes that I am going to bang out in the first 8 week session. Pushing it to the deadline so we'll see how it goes!

You're probably right about the two choices, not sure where I heard three at. I have to retake my HESI. I didn't study for it and I missed the math minimum by one point! Still don't think I did bad for having been out of high school 20+ years! I'll be taking pharmacology and knocking out nutrition this coming summer so all my BSN pre reqs will be done. It's coming along, we can do this!

I am so ready! I am currently taking Pharm right now. I still have history and government classes to cover before my BSN but have everything else done. That really stinks about the 1 point difference! I took the TEAS-V and I have been told that the HESI is easier so I guess I'll find out soon. Going to get a study guide to go over during the winter break. Really praying that I get in for July.

How's the Pharm course going for you? The HESI was pretty easy. I took it early this summer to see how I would do, no studying or anything. Math has always been my weakest area but yes I was a little crazy over that one point! Definitely get the study guide! I purchased it a couple of months ago and noticed that many of the questions in the book I had answered on the HESI. So get it and take those practice tests then go take the HESI, I know you'll do great! Let me know how ya do!
