I'm graduating with my BSN in April and am looking ahead to find out what the best way will be to obtaining my MSN-NP. Part of me is thinking online courses but I don't know much about them. I have a 3.0...am I going to have problems getting into a MSN program in MI?

After you have been in the Air Force for two years you can get selected for the AFIT (Air Force Institute of Technology) and they will pay you FULL Captain pay to go to school full time without working.

Michigan State U. has a good NP program but when I went (started in 1998, grad in 2000), you had to have at least 2 years clinical experience. A GPA of 3.0 is good but they also take into consideration your GRE scores, recommendation letters and your personal essay explaining why you want to get into their program and become an NP. I have some friends going through now and they have more online classes than I did. MSU is also nice in that they have satellite locations for class - I'm in Gaylord and we had classes right here. When I went through, there was also a class in Muskegon (which might be nice for you - don't you live in or near Grand Rapids - I thought I saw that in other postings from you). If you want to stay with Grand Valley, they also have an NP program and I have 3 friends that went through that - all liked it and graduated and got good jobs. That program also has satellite locations - my friends went to class up here in Traverse City.
