Nurse job

Hi I am currently into BSN-RN program. I will be done soon and I am exploring areas of nursing which has lots of shortage for nurses for ex: critical care etc. I would really appreciate if some one can provide me information about department/area that has more RN job opportunities than other departments/area? Even though I love critical care, Initially I wanted to get a job as soon as possible to pay off my debts :(

Thanks in adv

EVERYONE and their mother wants to work ICU, ER, Peds or L&D. I would say the areas with the most demands/that offer the most opportunities to new grads are Med-Surg or LTC.

Since when was critical care shortage for nursing? the market there is over saturated. you should be looking more at specialties or geriatrics. Geriatrics in particular usually needs excessive people due to the baby boomers and such.

You have to remember that the shortage in my area may not be the shortage in your area......in my area the need is in the Med-surg,ED, and Wound care

Thank You all for the information...

In my area the shortages are in ER, Med/Surg, Cardiac, and OR.
