numbness in the leg

My husband is constantly feeling numbness in his leg. What could this be a sign of?

Probably needs to be checked out. Could be some kind of disc problem in the lumbar back, a circulatory problem, or even a stroke. He should see an MD asap. Good luck.

Agree with above.

Is there any pain that accompanies the numbness? Anything that brings it on or makes it worse? Anything that relieves it? How is his strenght bilaterally. Have him push against your hands with his feet. Is he able to bear weight on it. Then have him squeeze your first two fingers with his hands. Is the grip equal. Any facial drooping. Check capillary refill and his DTR's. Check his peripheral pulses, starting with his pedal and work your way up. Any inflamation that might indicate a DVT. Try taking a toothpick and gently pressing the point against his skin starting at the foot and working yourway up the leg (front, sides, and back) to determine the extent of involvment. Now take this information that you have gleaned form your assessment and take him to an MD. I cannot make a determination without know ing anyof his medical Hx. The MD will us your assessment info with his exam to make an accurate Dx. Good luck and let us know what happens.
