I have enough funds to get me through about six months of school but after that, I'll need to find a job I can do while in nursing school. My step-father told me to deliver pizza and I actually tried that a few months back, but they would only schuedule me for about 5 hours a week. I need about $1,000 a month for personal cost (I'm married). My school costs will be covered. Any idea what kind of work that I can do in the evenings and go to nursing school? I just started LPN school last week. My unemployment just ended, so I'm going to have to start working again. I do have my CNA license, and as soon as I get CPR certified again, I will have a job, going to people's homes to take care of them. I had a case with the company years ago, and I pretty much sat there and read books until the patient needed me. I figure that this is good, because I can study while working. When my mother was an LPN, she only did home care cases, so she was able to study to study and work while getting her RN. My brother is in school to be an RN now. His job is a patient sitter at a hospital in the psych unit. The hospital doesn't want to use restraints, so they hire sitters to stay with the patients. He works 12 hour shifts, and the hospital encourages their sitters to study while they're there, as long as it doesn't interfere with keeping an eye on their patients. You can try to get jobs like that while in school. It's a win win. I personally would prefer to be a sitter, so after I'm done with the first semester, I'm going to apply to the hospitals. When my brother's wife was in nursing school, after her first semester, she was a PCT. That worked out well for her, because after she passed her NCLEX, she was hired right away from the hospital.
