I'm entering the nursing program in the fall 2012 and I have a roadblock ahead of me... I was convicted in 1999 of a class b misdemeanor(the worst day of my life.) My question is has anyone with convictions found work after graduating?

I have two felony convictions n I have found two kind after graduating n getting my license....so u will be okay....hoping everything workout for you

I hope so... I just don't want to waste all that money and time and not be able to get a job afterwards..... I think that scares me the most!

i totally understand...if you know someone who can get ur foot in the door and get u a job that's ur best option and once you get that one others will come...

I'm a new grad and I hold two nursing jobs and have a DUI from ~5 years ago on my record, including a home health nursing job. (The other is a hospital-based job.)

I have a friend who received a DUI about six months before nursing school started and she has held two hospital-based jobs.

Obviously, neither of us will ever know how many jobs we were automatically screened out of because of our history.

I think you'll probably have bigger issues with just being a new grad nurse - at least if the economy continues to stay stagnate. Working while you're in nursing school, networking, and getting good grades will probably count more for your career potential than an old misdemeanor on your record will count against.
