This is just a note to all those nurses trying to get into anesthesia school. I became discouraged after reading everyone elses stats (GPA, GRE, ect) on this site and was sure that my 3.0 GPA and mediocre academic past (do mostly to surfing) would keep me from getting into a school. I recently had two interviews and to my surprise I was offered a position at both schools on the spot!

In my opinion, The importance of the interview and good clinical experience cannot be overstated. Don't undersell yourselves. Have confidence in your skills and knowledge. Many schools understand that people often mature after college and can change.

Well, anyway, I hope this gives a few people hope out there. Don't give up! You can do it!

I'm in your shoes, and some times I get so discouraged that I'm going the extra mile for nothing, and other times, I feel, "Gosh, if you just give me the interview, I'd prove to you that I have what it takes." Much props for you for posting this.

Thank God there is hope afterall....I have taken the past year and have retaken alotof classes than I didnt do so well in....was even on academic probation for awhile...have turned it around to a 3.4 in Liberal Arts and 4.0 in Massage School and so far a 4.0 in Nursing school...I was wondering if the past would really bring me down but your post gives me a little more hope...gotta keep the grades up and get experience.

If you dont mind my asking, where were you accepted and what was the nature of the interviews?

What types of questions were asked?

Were the interviewers personable or was it a firing squad?

Interviews make me a nervous wreck anyway and I'd like to start getting an idea about what to expect.

That is hilarious. I am attributing my mediocre performance on exams this week to the excellent FoxSportsWorld Rugby World Cup coverage. You are a dedicated student indeed to put studies over sports when the Game-They-Play-In-Heaven is being broadcast nearly every night.

Here's the good news. When the 2007 World Cup comes around, we will be full-fledged CRNAs and can watch the action in person.
