So I've maxed out Pell Grants and Junior College level loans completing my pre reqs. Is it possible to get other grants or loans if I get into an ADN program at a community college or do I have to get into a 4 year BSN program to keep getting financial aid? I hope someone here has a similar experience since community colleges only provided financial aid for 2 years and I spent one deciding on a major and then 1.5 completing pre nursing classes.

If I'm not mistaken, one can receive pell grant up to 90 semester units (at least that's the policy at my community college). Once 90 semester unit is reached, he/she is no longer eligible. But I think if you're accepted into an ADN program, you might be eligible again until a certain number of unit is reached. At least that's what I remembered seeing on the informational pamphlet from my school. However, I think you should check with your financial aid office to be sure.

That doesn't seem right... I've spent a total of about 5 years in junior college (and 2 years at a university), and I always received pell grants. I just graduated with a B.S. degree, and now I'm back at a junior college again to do nursing prereqs... I'm still getting the maximum pell grant (and I have a total of 147 college units). If you haven't already, I would contact FAFSA and see what they have to say. Not sure about loans... I never took out any, so I have no experience there. Good luck!! =)

I have just over 90 units and I am not eligible for any more pell grants until I am accepted into the nursing program. But I have a friend that goes to the same community college as I do and is also going for nursing who has about 120 units and she still gets her pell grants. I think it varies from person to person depending on your financial situation and whether you will be transfering.
