Ok, I'm waiting on the results of my declaratory order petition to clear my background check... One of the enrollment requirements for the program I am trying to qualify for.

I hand-delivered my petition and statement on 3/15 to the BNE office in Austin, in the interest of cutting down time as much as possible. Deadline is 4/1... so it is cutting it REAL close.

Up until today, there was nothing showing on the endorsement listing on the BON website... I have literally one week to get news and deliver it to the program coordinator...

Today, this showed up -

Any ideas what it means? I don't ever recall taking the nursing jurisprudence exam.. unless that is something I did when I was a CNA back in 1994. I did not personally register with Pearson VUE... could that mean I've been approved?

I don't want to get my hopes up without the full info... but I could not find ANYTHING on this via a search (here and google)... Anyone who might know anything would help a lot!

I called and the wonderful customer service lady is checking in to it and will call me back... but I'm torn between fear that it is not good and excitement that I might actually make the round 1 candidates for the program I'm applying to!

I wonder if the "NURSING JURISPRUDENCE EXAMINATION PASSED" means you passed the background check?

Since jurisprudence deals with matters of the law. So basically, there's nothing in your legal record that would prevent you from being a nurse.

Oh CuriousMe, I do hope that is what it is... I don't want to get my hopes up or assume anything, but it was a long hard road in life to get to this point and I'm praying for leniency because of a stupid stupid stupid mistake as a teenager...

I would call the BNE office and ask them to decipher the message.

I actually called today just to ask nicely if there was any update on my petition (praying for a hint of hope!)... and the wonderful customer service lady looked in to it and told me there was an update in my file... today. She asked for a number to call me back at and said she would research it and call me back with an interpretation...

Then I went to the BON website - previously nothing there - and found this... and am no less clueless than I was...

Just FYI and in case it helps anyone else... the interpretation I got via phone call means that everything has been entered into the computer (3/23) and is now received and awaiting review (3/25). So, in other words, more waiting.

I did notice one thing, might be SOP, might be nothing... In the 'computer entry' process, they registered my name with Pearson VUE... I assume this is solely for the purpose of being able to notify me as 'authorized to test' (pending completion of the program, of course) if that is the way the decision goes... However... one detail from the FAQ part of the state website has me a little hopeful...

Who will send me the Authorization to Test letter?

Pearson Vue will send you the Authorization to Test letter, by US Mail, or by email, if you have provided an email address.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, but I'm pretty sure it's a good sign.

My mother went through the LVN program at Victoria College in 1993-1994 and only had to provide three letters of character reference as a qualification... but had to undergo the declaratory order/review process before testing. Her situation was far more severe, and (at the time) more recent... she was approved, so I am hopeful... Of course, that was better than 15 years ago... standards might have changed.

Anyone going through this process, don't lose heart... don't give up until you have exhausted all of your options!

Hi, I know you posted this 2 years ago but I was wondering what was your outcome. Did you get your license? I am going through the same thing now. I took the Jurisprudence exam and passed, they recieved my affadavit and background check, I'm just waiting for them to review my declaratory order which takes up to 45 days. I'm waiting impatiently, needing some hope.
