HELP!!! Have to take a poll from healthcare pros for a class - Thanks!!!

:yeah:

I have an assignment for a class that I need to ask healthcare professionals about and I figured maybe someone could help me out, if at all possible. It would be greatly appreciated, you have no idea! I have copied and pasted the questions to this post and in the response (if you choose to) you can just copy and paste them also and just write your answers in below each question. As much or as little help that you can provide for each question would be awesome! Thanks! Here it goes:

Survey Questions Regarding Intercultural Communication in the Health Care Context:

  1. Describe intercultural communication as you see it in the health care setting.
  2. What are the benefits and problems that occur in the increasingly multi-cultural health care environments?
  3. What is the responsibility of each person in the health care setting for sending accurate messages when he or she communicates with someone from another culture?
  4. What is the responsibility of the listener/receiver in the health care context, when he or she communicates with someone from another culture?
  5. How can people in the health care context increase their intercultural communication skills?
  6. How is conflict usually resolved in interpersonal communication in the workplace

survey questions regarding intercultural communication in the health care context:

  1. describe intercultural communication as you see it in the health care setting. people from different cultures are involved in health care.
  2. what are the benefits and problems that occur in the increasingly multi-cultural health care environments? problems happen when values, traditions, and expectations are different, and these are just 3 areas that come immediately to mind. benefits? i guess there's opportunity to grow and become learned about people who differ from us. lots of people seem to value and enjoy this.
  3. what is the responsibility of each person in the health care setting for sending accurate messages when he or she communicates with someone from another culture? we all have to try to be accurate and clear. i'd say that everyone bears equal responsibility to try to communicate clearly, but i think what i have mostly seen is that the dominant culture, which is usually presumed or deemed to be caucasian, is expected to reach out the most. of course, the caucasian culture is varied (by gender, by religion, by heritage/ethnicity, by where one has grown up or lived), first of all. also, there are places where the caucasian culture is not dominant, such as in government places of employment.
  4. what is the responsibility of the listener/receiver in the health care context, when he or she communicates with someone from another culture? see above.
  5. how can people in the health care context increase their intercultural communication skills? make a conscious effort to learn about the cultures one encounters. read, interact with, observe.
  6. how is conflict usually resolved in interpersonal communication in the workplace? well, the doctor is always right, the patient and family are always right. the nurse is always wrong. i'm being a little sarcastic - but only a little.

i hope this helps you.

Kooky Korky - Thank you so much for responding, yes, this does help. If I cite you in my assignment, is it okay to just cite you as Kooky Korky? You're awesome, thanks!

I sent my reply privately as I was having problems with the system. I hope this arrived in a timely manner for your use!
