Anyone have any idea how to get a job at HSS residency program.....

Hi my fellow nurses... I'm a new graduate and passed my NCLEX in Nov. My dream and goal is to be an OR nurse.... I have been trying to apply to HSS but there hasn't been any posting online for the residency program... I like what the hospital stands for because it is a teaching hospital especially for nurses.... Does anyone have any idea of how I can find out about HSS residency program? Please let me know I would really appreciate it:)

Would be helpful if you would identify where facility is located ....with 50 state forums along with international viewers who post, identifying "HSS" residency program is like locating a needle in a haystack.

We can then move your post question to best area for input.

I will, HSS is located in NYC (New York City)

If I were you I would contact the nurse recruiter directly. The number should be available on the hospital website and even if it's not you can be transferred to him/her by calling the hospitals main number. Good Luck to you!!

To Summer410.... Thank you I will do so...

I work there...

Janice Minucci is the name of the RN recruiter...she is very helpful, not sure of her email or phone #, but like someone else said, you might be able to get it by calling the main number. 212-606-1000. good luck!

Dear Churcht1, Thank you so much for the info... a couple a weeks ago I did contact her and I have yet received any info yet..but I figure she is very busy... still have my hands cross...

Thank you

Hi!

I contacted her and received this response on January 7th:

We have a schedule of residency programs for new graduate RNs. The programs are only as good as the amount and quality of the preceptors available to work with them.

We usually hire for the OR residency program every July and January (it is a 6-month program). Preceptors not only have to train the nurse - they have to take care of the patient in surgery at the same time.

The PACU and In-Patient Residency programs are usually offered every October and May. We started all 3 programs (for a total of 29 new grads hired) this past Monday to accomodate our hospital expansion in 2011.

I received well over 200 applications back in August and September for a January start. I post the positions 3 months ahead of a program start. There is screening and paneling that takes place. I review resumes at random since there is an overwhelming amount of applicants. I also try to choose from all of the different schools of nursing from across the nation.

Janice

Hope this helps!

Dear Mappymouse....

Thanks for the info.... It was very helpful... I'm crossing my fingers and hoping all goes well. But at least now I know that they are expanding which opens up more opportunities for new grad nurses....

Thanks;)

Hi! I'm graduating in May with my BSN and looking to work in NYC. I'm trying to find her email and having trouble- would you mind sharing it?

i know this is an old thread but has anyone gone through the PACU new grad program I have an interview next week and would love some insight. thanks

Hi RNNY78!

Did you go to your interview? I also have an interview this week and need to prepare. Did you interview with the nurse recruiter? or the panel interview? Do you know when the PACU residency starts. Also, I heard they are starting their 3 residencies at the same time. Is this true?

I applied for the PACU residency last week but haven't heard from them since. Do you happen to remember how long after you applied you were contacted to set up an interview? I've also heard all programs have the same start date.

Thanks for any info.
