LVN TO RN BRIDGE

I was wondering do other states other than california have a step-up program from lvn to rn bridge? If so, what states? And can you work with your rn license from california to the other states if you do the step-up education in california?

As far as I know, all states across the U.S. offer LPN-to-RN bridge (transition) programs.

If you complete an LVN-to-RN bridge program in California, you will be able to endorse your California RN licensure into other states. However, do not complete California's 30 unit bridge program option, because it will result in a limited RN license, a terminal education with no degree, and an inability to endorse the RN license into any other state.

Commuter...Im confused, with the difference with the 30 unit program and the lvn-rn bridge. I thought they were the same. Can you please explain the difference, thank you so much.

There is a big difference. Avoid the 30 unit option unless you are certain that you will never leave the state of CA. Basically with the 30 unit option you take a minimum of classes beyond the LVN level and are allowed to take the NCLEX upon completion. The kicker is that you do not graduate, do not get a degree, and your 30 unit option RN license is only good in CA. Most schools also limit 30 unit option students to available seats after degree-seeking candidates are admitted. This, of course, means you will not get in, because what school has any seats open after accepting their limit of degree-seeking individuals?

Yeah I wouldn't worry about the 30 unit option. Now I know that ISU offers the LVN-BSN program, but it's not accepted in all states. Excelsior offers the LVN-RN but it's not accepted everywhere and California is one of them. Skip the 30 unit option and go for your ADN or BSN. Good Luck
