Hello! So I am getting so frustrated! I have all my pre-reqs done @ SPC. I only have a 3.0 Which, if anyone knows about SPC's RN entry process, they will laugh at my application pretty much. I work 50hours a week so it is hard to devote EVERYTHING to school....so here are my questions!

I am going to apply to PTEC's LPN program and was wondering if anyone can give me any pointers/suggestions on how to get in! I know I hav to take the TABE test and they have a point system on getting in. I heard that they might give preference to someone who takes the CNA corse thru them. True? Also how hard is it to get in? Do people normally apply a few times before getting accepted? Any advise from current or prospective students would be greatly appreciated!!!! TIA!! :)

I was just accepted to the Online LPN program. I didn't have to take TABE, so I can't give any pointers on that. I think it is a basic education test and you have to score at at least an 11th grade level. The TEAS test is required of everyone. That test was a lot harder than I expected. There was quite a few general science questions on there that I was not prepared for. They do admit on a point system. You get an extra point if you have taken a medical class through them or been a previous applicant for the program. The CNA class is part of the LPN program though, so you may want to just take it that way. I only applied one time. I did apply to SPC as well, but my GPA, 3.67 was not high enough, so I decided to go this route and bridge to RN at SPC. I would start working on making sure you have all of your immunizations up to date, as you have to have proof of that by the time you apply to PTEC. I think that is what/where a lot of people got denied that applied.

What info can you tell me on the online program? Is it recommended for people who need to work duing school? I've heard mixed things on it...that it has a lot of kinks. Is it easier to get into then the campus classes? How do they do clinicals??? Any info would be great :)

I have not yet started the program, so I am not too sure. This is going to be the 2nd online class. I am sure that there are kinks, as it is a new program. I am not sure about the work during school. For now I am planning on working during school, unless work interferes with school for me. Like I said, I only applied for the online program, as it fits better with my learning style. As far as clinicals, I know that they can be anywhere in the county, with some of the practice stuff at University High in Palm Harbor.
