CRRT- CVV hemofiltration vs CVVhemodialysis

Im trying to study for my renal exam tomorrow and I just don't get the differences between venovenous hemodialysis and venovenous hemofiltration. Honestly they all sound the same to me... Also it my book it says that CVVHemofiltration is indicated when patienr scondition warrants removal of significant volumes of fluid and solutes. But i thought they are continous so they don't remove large amouts fast like traditional hemodialysis does... Im confused, can anyone help?
