Schneiders Childrens Hospital

Hi All..

I will soon be graduating in May 2008. I was wondering if anyone had any information or insight into Schneiders Childrens Hospital (part of the NS-LIJ system). HR dept info, salary, orientation info, anything like that would be amazing..Thanks so much for any information you can share! :)

Hi

I worked at SCH for a few years. The salary is good, comparable to the others in the area, not sure what the exact # is (IMO a thousand more or less is not gong to make a difference). The application process has changed since I started there. You have to apply on line and I believe it takes a while to get called. So I would start the ball rolling sooner rather than later.

As far as the orientation goes, it depends on the unit you work on. The general peds floors have a shorter orientation. The specialties (NICU, PICU, oncology) have longer ones, with classes you have to attend. I got a very good orientation, but that was 7 yrs ago. I beleive it is still pretty good. However, if you don't 'cut it' in a certain area, they will certainly let you know. If you can't handle it in a specialty, they will stringly suggest you try a general peds unit.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. I have also worked in a few other peds places in the area.
