TIPS procedure

Hello all! I have been a RN on med-surg floor for about 9 months now. :uhoh3:A pt of mine will be going for a TIPS procedure tomorrow am. I am aware of what the actual procedure is, however I have yet to take care of a pt after one has been done. Just curious of specific nursing care/needs my pt may need after his procedure. Thanks for the info...i need a heads up.

-I'm in LTC and we have a gal that recently had this done and the improvement in her quality of life has been remarkable. She was end stage-going for taps almost weekly, increased confusion-really miserable. She is a different person now-planning on leaving LTC after the holidays. We don't see that often..I hope your patient responds as well....There are many good web sites that explain the procedure in laymen's terms and for medical professionasl-just do a search. It's interesting
