I am interested in a career change and was considering the Air Force. I've wanted to be an Air Force since beginning college 5 years ago. I graduate in December 2007 (this year) and will be starting nursing school in january. I wanted to know the best way to enlist in the military. Some of the Air Forces I know say that I should wait until after I have my nursing degree before I should enlist; however, others say that I should enlist as soon as I am accepted. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

As an AF officer we commission we don't enlist in the AF. Enlistment implies that you are joining the AF as an Airmen not as an officer.

If you want to come in the AF as an AF nursing officer you will have to wait until after you graduate nursing school. You can start your paperwork your senior year in nursing school, and be ready to go to commissioned officer training (COT) shortly after finding passing your NCLEX.

The Navy has a Naval Candiate Program that will let you sign up now and pay you a stipend while going to school. http://www.navy.com/careers/officer/healthcare/nursing/

I am a big advocate at looking at all the different services prior to making a committment to anyone of them.

great advice. You would want to get intouch with your Air Force recruiter your JR year though as you would want to start the whole application process in Mar Apr time frame.
