Recording Lectures- Changing Format

Featured Replies

I use my ipod to record lectures, which are downloaded to my computer and can be burned onto a CD.

If I use a digital recorder to record some lectures and I then want to transfer it to a CD to listen to while driving, or to MP3 format for an Ipod. Can this be done, and how difficult would it be?

It should be very, very easy. It's difficult to re-record copyrighted material that has "digital rights management" software. But if you're making the recording, digital rights management won't apply. Just make sure that your recording device is using an open format (MP3), not a Windows format or MP4, and there should be no problem.

I think it would be polite to ask the lecturer first, too. I'm no lawyer, but strictly speaking, wouldn't he or she own they copyright of the lecture?

What kind of a digital recorder is it?

Kenny b, I haven't purchased one yet, I was waiting for advice on what I would need specifically to accomplish this.
