Just curious to know if anyone has ever heard of weekend RN programs? Is the outcome quicker than the standard programs?

Has anyone ever done this type of program? and is it worth it?

yes, i have heard of it but don't know enough to give adivce. my opinion, it sure would be a good things for those who can only go to school on the weekend.

I am just curious about it, a friend was telling me about it and I didnt know if it was a good idea or not. Thanks for your help though

My Community College offers "Evening/Weekend" Nursing courses. I have the course schedule right in front of me. Basically, you do your lab/lecture two nights a week and then you do your clinicals all day Saturday.

The Program is 3 years long, which is how long the regular day program is too. The first year, you take your pre and co-requisites during the evenings or in the summer. Then, for the last two years you do your actual nursing classes in the evenings and weekends.

It is a relatively new program for my school. Only been around for a couple of years, I think. Many of my fellow classmates are looking forward to doing it on the weekends as they work full time during the day or it's just easier for their spouse or baby sitter to watch their children on the weekends and evenings.

Since it's new I don't know how it is working out yet. While some of my fellow students are excited about the prospect of going on the weekends others think it will still be too hard since you would have clinical on Saturday and then have to have all of your reports, etc. written up for Lab the following Monday night.

I have also heard some students say that they think you don't learn as much as if you were taking it during the day because most of the staff and teachers at the clinicals on Saturdays don't really want to be there and kind of blow off the students.

But, I haven't taken it yet so I don't know for sure.
