Samford FNP Fall-2016

Has anyone applied to Samford University Online FNP Fall 2016 Program? Can you share what you have heard about the program, first semester course work load (3 advance courses), and overall input, guidance, and or advice you have been given in order to successfully complete the program.

If you already graduated from Samford Online FNP, tell us about your overall experience, student loans opportunities, total cost of the program, graduation rate as per your own class experience, preparation for Board Exam, and if you found "entry level FNP career opportunity" or not after graduation.

Thank you for your responses, input, and guidance.

Note: You may select multiple choices (if applicable) in the attached "Poll".

Thank you for responding. When you get a chance, see the "Poll", hence you can select multiple choices. This way, we help others! Hopefully we obtain sound feedback through this forum. Looking forward to current or past FNP students feedback.

I will... At the moment I'm on my phone which doesn't offer the poll option. :) Best of luck to you!

I was using a laptop and could not have access to the check boxes of the "Poll". Access for me was only available once I signed into my account. Thank you for the help, feedback, and correction on duplicate posts. I am a little rusty.

That could be because you have already cast your vote(s).

I applied for the FNP program for this Fall semester and I am also waiting to hear back. I applied at UAB and South Alabama (my last choice) as well. I received my acceptance letter from UAB this past Friday. So now if I am to get accepted to Samford I have to make a decision on which school to choose. I honestly have NO idea which one to go with, again - pending I get accepted to Samford. Does anyone know anything about UAB or could give advice as to why choose Samford over UAB? UAB would definitely be cheaper.

Hello jblakestokes. I also applied to another FNP program; however, part time, and set to start in January 2017. This secondary back up plan, does provide all clinical sites and preceptors, including specialize areas as well. The cost of Samford and my secondary plan is almost the same (i.e. $40K). However, with Samford we must find our own clinical sites/preceptors, and have 3 on campus visits (an extra expense from those of us that live out of state, approximately $1,200, plane, 4 days hotel, & transportation) per trip. I have read various blogs, articles, and heard from other nurses, that nationwide many nurses are unable to find their own clinical sites/preceptors, thus unable to graduate because of incomplete clinical hours in Family Practice, Pediatric, and OB/GYN. Other nurses have described securing clinical sites in places whereby they only complete the hours but do not learn how to be a FNP. Therefore, I decided to call about a dozen primary care clinical sites in my city and was told either they were booked with FNP students and or did not take FNP students at all. Indeed, this is a nationwide mission and epidemic! Because of this fact, I applied to another University that provides all clinical sites/preceptors. With respect to UAB, I have no idea but would like to know from you if they provide you with clinical sites and preceptors? In terms of costs, obtaining quality clinical training sites is priceless! Everyone has to make a sound decision on what is best for them. Please share more about UAB when you can, with respect to clinical sites/preceptors, number of semesters, cost, PT vs. FT, etc. We are here to share and help one another in this process. Thanks for your input.
